The role: The Director of Sales is a key leadership role and will align the sales organization s objectives with organization business strategy through active participation in corporate strategic planning, sales strategy development, forecasting, sales resource planning, and budgeting. The Director of Sales leads the Sales and Support teams and is involved in key accounts and company initiatives. Responsibilities: Create and meet assigned targets for profitable sales volume, market share, and other key financial performance objectives. As an active participant on the leadership team, propose strategic initiatives, create sales budget, provide all applicable sales targets, set direction for the sales team, inform on sales results and roadblocks and drive results. Works closely with leaders of other functional groups on departmental and company objectives; Leads sales organization change initiatives by continuously assessing needs, championing initiatives, and removing obstacles. Work cross functionally to achieve assigned organizational objectives for sales, profits, volume, product mix, and other strategic goals. Develop and manage initiatives to expand key account sales in multiple verticals. Expand on existing CRM (Salesforce) to maximize sales performance, including: new account development (marketing campaigns, email drip campaigns, lead generation, inbound marketing, and overall sales pipeline management including metrics, reporting, and collaborating with the entire organization on upcoming business. Lead, coach, and develop National and Regional Sales Managers, including sales best practices, presenting value proposition to customer base, and managing outside commission-based sales reps; develop variable pay plan for sales team. Own Sales Operations including promotions, tradeshows, customer support, and forecasting for the entire organization including product mix, sales by sales manager, sale rep, vertical, customer, and prospective new business analysis. Accountable for effective sales organization design, including sales job roles, sales channel design, and sales resource deployment. Evaluate balance between Inside Sales and external Sales Reps Manage the sales, support and sales operations teams while fostering a culture of accountability, professional development (including managers), high performance and teamwork. Requirements: Attributes Generalist approach to the role, capable of wearing multiple hats Organized; closely knows the pipeline, project status, and all efforts of the sales team A producer with high work ethic and focused loyalty to the company s success Demonstrated curiosity in problem solving and resolution Critical thinking, strategy, high level of social and emotional intelligence Excellent communication skills Able to utilize data own and understand the numbers Organization and attention to detail Creative problem solver brings solutions, not problems Strong excel skills Willing to roll up your sleeves nothing is beneath me attitude Ability to react quickly to changing circumstances Experience Minimum of 7 years of sales leadership experience in wholesale and/or retail consumer product goods; Working with brick & mortar customers preferred Experience building, leading and inspiring a sales team both internal sales employees and external sales rep groups Proven track record of meeting sales goals and initiatives Ability to maximize value of CRM, Salesforce preferred Experience working with creative teams and/or products preferred Experience developing and managing forecasts and budgets, and measuring performance against forecasts and budgets Experience managing Marketing a plus We are an Equal Opportunity Employer
