State & Local Sales Manager - West
Job Summary
Supervise the State and Local (S&L) West Sales team responsible for successfully closing the sector's largest new clients or returning our largest current clients.
* Requires broad technical expertise and company/industry knowledge.
* Accountable for functional, operational and/or program management.
* Has primary accountability for the performance and results of segment generating $300M in signings.
* Provides leadership and direction.
* Develops and executes long-term functional strategy to achieve key business objectives.
* Evaluates key business challenges; directs the development of new or innovative solutions.
* Develops and executes strategy to achieve key business objectives.
* Defines the operational priorities for the area of accountability.
* Decisions are guided by company and functional strategy and objectives.
Functional Knowledge
* Requires broad and comprehensive understanding of State and Local Government programs.
* Applies in-depth knowledge of own area as well as business expertise to differentiate the company from the competition.
* Shapes the opinions of, and negotiates with, other senior leaders; establishes collaborative relationships across the business and with external organizations.
Responsibilities:
* Manages individual contributors Sales Business Development individuals and operational personnel.
* Manages territories based on geographies.
* Manages responsibilities include performance appraisals, pay reviews, training and development for employees.
* Expects to coordinate the mentor-ship and training of junior Sales Business Development individuals.
* Acts as escalation point for internal deals that become more complex.
* Manages overall pipeline of deals into order to drive closure rates with high levels of success.
* Coordinates with Sales Leader, General Managers, and Portfolio Leaders.
* Drives the growth of Annual Contract Value and Total Contract Value.
Essential Skills/Knowledge
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in Sales Team Management and Business Development.
* Experience managing Sales and Business Development teams
* Industry expertise related to Government solutions in State & Local Government, required.
* Industry expertise related to Health and Human Services (HHS), strongly desired.
* Experience holding, and achieving, a $20m+ quota.
* Must be comfortable with government procurement, business development/sales and proposal management.
* Deep knowledge of rules, regulations and idiosyncrasies of government procurement, buying practices and budget cycles.
* Consistent sales experience with pursuits over $20M.
* Strong ability to engage multiple subcontractors and partners throughout the bidding process.
* Adaptability to changing requirements dictated by client-driven or internal factors.
* Ability to successfully manage time and priorities necessary to meet critical deadlines, and be able to manage a heavy workload in a highly competitive and visible, and sometimes stressful, arena.
* Familiarity with business-related mathematics and metrics.
* MS Suite skills - Excel, Word, Project and PowerPoint.
