This position is fully responsible for successfully growing their blocks of business by state and region, under the leadership and supervision of the Senior Vice President of Group Distribution. The incumbent will have responsibility for Business Development (BD) of Group Division Partners. Additionally, the incumbent is accountable for appropriately staffing and developing Regional Managing Directors that will assure delivery of stated objectives.. This position is responsible for the leadership and implementation of action to complete business plans that will satisfy corporate and regional goals, objectives and strategies. This position supports the profitable net growth of in force premium and lives at or above the established net growth requirements set for the wholesale distribution. The growth is achieved through BD leadership and improved persistency of business and increased profitability. Working within assigned budgets for all areas of responsibility. Partnering closely with the Group Distribution Team to contribute tactically and strategically in the planning and delivery of key objectives for BD. The incumbent will be expected to work closely with their SVP in delivering combined objectives for the region while successfully operating with appropriate autonomy.. Essential Functions:. Develop and execute business plans that will lead to stated growth objectives.. Manage the assigned sales relationships with alternative distribution channels to achieve revenue growth and profit objectives.. Build actionable persistency plan and manage results with key stakeholders.. Direct, manage, and implement special projects and key initiatives and strategies to increase sales and improve profitability. Develop and execute appropriate talent selection and hiring plans, with direction from the SVP and Wholesale Distribution team, to assure resources are fully staffed.. Provide Leadership for assigned resources (Account Executives) that assure service and persistency models are achieved on in-force business and demonstrating increased sales performance as a result of these assigned resources.. Build mentoring plan for staff to leverage investment in associates to build customer loyalty;. Review top-line and bottom-line results quarterly and develop action plan to implement for results improvement on sales, persistency, profit, UW results, and mentoring.. Identify new products, product enhancements and geographic changes that affect the business climate through constant contact with designated partners, brokers and sales reps in each group office location as well as participation in local/regional industry associates.. A key function of the position includes broker development and participation in closing appointments for large cases. The incumbent acts as a liaison between the field, the region and the Home Office, and interacts at all levels within the companies, thus effective leadership, people skills and political savvy are required to meet goals established for BD and other stakeholders. The incumbent is responsible for developing and maintaining good relations with local producer communities, civic and professional organizations in developing and maintaining business and community relations.. Required Knowledge and Skills:. Needs a minimum of 5 years of proven sales and industry experience, as well as creativity and superior problem-solving skills. This position requires superior individual sales performance along with strong mentoring and leadership characteristics to develop human potential in other sales associates. This position places the appropriate accountability for top and bottom line responsibility closest to the sales associates responsible for generating the sales.. Must possess superior interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving, verbal and written communication skills. He or she must handle multi-tasks and be an organized strategic thinker.. Strong financial ability to grow sales results while managing profitability and persistency of in-force business.. Candidates for the National Sales Director position will have demonstrated consistent performance of positive net growth performance. They will also have demonstrated successful experience in managing books of inforce business of at least $30 million or greater, including persistency and net growth success.. Strong aptitude for personal sales, leadership and coaching, and strategic thinking. Demonstrated leadership in developing others to success. Consistently delivered positive net growth results and management of blocks of business in excess of $30 million+.. Business acumen -- including budgets, expense management, and unit cost improvements.. Command Skills -- ability to make timely decisions, often acting on incomplete information..
